Junior and Senior Rules
  1. To enter, create recipes using Unilever Food Solutions products. Submit your recipes for a starter, main course and dessert with accompanying photographs. Recipes must serve 3 pax.

  2. You may enter by post: Unilever Food Solutions Chef of the Year Competition, P.O. Box 1547, Durban, 4000, fax: 031 570 2395, email: coty@unilever.com or online at www.unileverfoodsolutions.co.za. Entries must be received on or before 13th July 2012. Please send recipes and photographs with your entry form details.

  3. You may enter in one of two categories: Junior (25 years or younger, less than 5 years experience) or Senior (over 5 years experience).

  4. Unilever Food Solutions reserves the right to change the chef category entered.

  5. On the basis of entries received, a minimum of 5 Junior (25 years or younger) entrants and a minimum of 5 Senior entrants will be chosen in each three regions - Western Province, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. You will be notified if you have been selected to participate in the regional cook-offs. These finalists will be required to participate in cook-offs in their respective regions to take place on the 3rd August 2012 (Cape Town), 1st August 2012 (Johannesburg) and 31st July 2012 (Durban).

  6. In regional cook-offs, entrants will be required to prepare a three course menu using Unilever Food Solutions products from a mystery basket - Unilever Food Solutions will provide all ingredients required in respect for these cook-offs. No fresh ingredients will be supplied when there is a Unilever Food Solutions equivalent product available. This cook-off will be scored on the number of Unilever Food Solutions products used, the novel use of products, the originality of the recipe, the degree of difficulty and the skill utilized, the fusion of flavours and portion obedience.

  7. The regional finalists are to arrange their own transport and accommodation for the regional cook-offs.

  8. A minimum of 5 highest-scoring entrants in the Junior (25 years or younger) category and a minimum of 5 highest-scoring entrants in the Senior category nationally will then be selected to go through to the Mystery Basket National Finals to be held in Johannesburg on 14th September 2012. In addition 3 Senior entrants from (1 Egypt, 1 Pakistan, 1 Dubai) will be chosen to compete in the Senior Category. These finalists will be required to prepare a 3 course menu to serve 3 pax using Unilever Food Solutions products and will be scored on taste, the number of Unilever Food Solutions products used, the novel use of products, the originality of the recipe, the degree of difficulty and the skill utilised, the fusion of flavours and portion obedience.

  9. Unilever Food Solutions will arrange accommodation and transport for the Mystery Basket National Finals held in Johannesburg. Accommodation is inclusive of Bed and Breakfast; transport will be inclusive of airport taxes should the finalists be required to fly to Johannesburg.

  10. Unilever Food Solutions reserves the right to change the chef category entered.

  11. The winner in each category i.e. Junior the awards ceremony on 14th September 2012.

  12. The winners will be contacted for banking details after the announcement and prize money will be paid into the accounts within 35 working days.
